The holiday seasons are filled with family, friends, and good times. That being said, they can also be pretty stressful. With everything going on, your pets can sometimes be overlooked. The cold weather and your busy schedule can leave your dog cooped up. Involving your dog in some of your holiday festivities can be fun not just for your pup but for your family too!
- Christmas Cards – Adding your furry friend to your Christmas card can make them feel included and will also put smiles on your friends and families faces.
- Ugly Christmas Sweaters – If your dog doesn’t mind being dressed up, you can get them in the Christmas mood by putting them in a sweater and keep them warm on those snow filled days.
- Winter Walks – If your dogs like walks and don’t mind the cold weather, bundle up and take them for a stroll. It is always nice to give your pup some company while enjoying the snow.
- Christmas Lights – If you and your family enjoy riding around, looking at lights, you can take your 4-legged pal with you!
- Pictures with Santa – Just like for children, some pet stores will have a Santa to take pictures with your pets. You can check with your local pet store to see if they do something similar. Or, sign up for Christmas photos here at Fetchers each year!
- Participate in local events – Some cities put on holiday events for families. For example, Christmas in the Park or Holiday Markets. Most of these events are held outside and will allow dogs.
Holiday Meals – When eating with family or friends, you can include your pups by making them pet safe dog treats. Feed them at the same time everyone else eats and make them feel included. Please remember not to feed them any chicken or turkey skins or bones, gravy, onions, garlic, stuffing, raisins, nuts, or chocolate. The foods listed can cause severe stomach problems.
- Homemade Sweet Potato Chews
- Doggy Eggnog
Involve them in opening gifts – If it is just letting them hang out in the living room while the family opens presents or getting them a stocking of their own and presents to unwrap, dogs love their family’s company. Letting them hang out with everyone during your holiday can lead to one very happy pup! #sofetch
