One of the first things you notice about this breed is what has been nicknamed its “Sammy Smile”, the slight upturn of the corners of its mouth prove it to be a very happy go lucky dog! If the smile isn’t the first thing you notice, the giant white fluffy coat of hair surrounding this dog might be. In the winter time, their fur becomes so thick that you can’t see a glimpse of skin underneath the many layers. Because of their abundance of fur, they have become quite popular with weavers. Once spring comes and they begin to shed, their fur can be spun into yarn and woven into beautiful and warm clothing. Samoyeds originated from Siberia, Russia where they were trained to pull sleds, track and keep their owners warm by sleeping on top of them. Samoyeds are incredibly intelligent but can be quite strong willed and talkative, letting you know how he/she feels with bellows, barks and howls. Even the Samoyeds here at Fetchers have been known to let you know their likes and dislikes! Despite their strong-willed nature, Samoyeds are very social and family oriented dogs. Samoyeds are exceptional with children and are happiest when they have a family to gravitate around. Keeping this breed socialized and entertained is very important which is why doggy daycare is a perfect match for these active pups!
