Corgis are a very distinct breed with their elongated bodies and stubby little legs. You’ve
probably seen this breed alongside the Queen of England. But did you know that these little
balls of energy used to be herding dogs? These low to the ground pups were perfect for nipping
at the heels of cattle. This breed is extremely intelligent but also stubborn which might hinder
some training. However, with consistency and practice, these dogs are fast learners. Despite being small, these pups still need a good amount of exercise and mental stimulation.
Another interesting fact about this breed is that there are two distinct varieties: the Pembroke Corgi and the Cardigan Corgi. The Cardigan Corgi tends to be bigger and more built than its smaller
counterpart. The Pembroke Corgis also have docked tails, which differs from the long tail of the
Cardigan Corgi. In Welsh folklore, it was said that this breed was used by fairies and elves as
means for transportation. Corgis have a long and interesting history and they make perfect
family pets if you are willing to be patient with their stubborn nature!
